You’ll be joining a close-knit team, working with experts in 3D geometry, web technologies, cloud infrastructure, firmware, and everything in between. This position is cross-functional and combines algorithm development and implementation motivated and supported by experiments conducted in the lab. The hire must be able to quickly build an understanding of our print HW/SW framework and the physical underpinnings of that framework.
The position will prototype and then implement print SW, such as compensations for physical effects, that are based on the physics of the DLS process. Final implementation will be done in Carbon’s distributed compute setting and code review process.
Skills and requirements: Demonstrated ability to interpret data from physical systems, develop models based on the data, and implement software algorithms to improve system performance.Experience root-causing failures and troubleshooting undesirable behaviors in complex physical and algorithmic systems and designing and implementing software fixes to resolve them.Multi-language programmer for prototyping (e.g., Python, MATLAB) and production (C++, Python). SW prototyping ability is a must. Candidates with limited production SW experience are still encouraged to apply as these skills can be learned on the job.Experience in control systems related to electro-mechanical, optical, or material/chemical systemsExperience in assessing the impact of software and hardware changes and managing feature rollout across multiple platforms, software versions, and customer bases.Experience implementing and automating diagnostics, system health checks, GUI tools, calibration, and performance scripts is a plus.Base knowledge of system identification, data modeling / fitting techniques, finite element methods, computational optimization, geometric analysis At least 6 years of industry experienceBS or MS in Controls, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field
