We have grand ambitions to create technology that will influence industry around the world. Carbon is looking for a Development and Validation Engineer to join our Print Development team and help develop and validate printing and post process workflows on the Carbon platform.

This role is based in our Redwood City, CA location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate printing and post-process workflows with new resins, hardware and software on the Carbon platform. Includes routine operation of the printer with critical evaluation of printed parts.
  • Developing and executing efficient and informative software and print based regression tests of new software branches prior to customer release.  Assists the Service and System Integration teams in handling customer workflow issues and escalations.
  • This position is cross-functional and involves collaborative work with the materials, software, hardware, product and service teams. Routine presentation of data to the core R&D group and to company leadership.   
  • Skills and Requirements:

  • Creative ability to design efficient and effective tests to determine new products work as intended.
  • Strong observational skills and high attention to detail and organization - Required.
  • Strong interest in wet lab research and development - Required
  • Typically 50-80% of time in a laboratory environment
  • Ability to write Lua based code (or comparable language, e.g Python) - Required
  • Ability to independently design critically controlled experiments and analyze / interpret data  - Required
  • Ability to communicate R&D timelines and work collaboratively across teams - Required
  • Experience evaluating large data sets and analysis software (e.g. JMP, Minitab) - Desired
  • Experience with collaborative project management software (e.g. JIRA) - Desired
  • Experience with 3D printing - Desired

    Education and Experience:

  •  BS or higher in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of industry experience preferred
