We are looking for a Process Development Engineer who will work on the development of new resin products and troubleshoot current products for our 3D printing platform. The candidate will work with a cross functional team including various parts of the Resin Development team and Resin Operations. Materials are at the core of what we do, and you will be a part of the team that turns material ideas into products. Our materials are used for applications such as prototyping, dental, biomedical, automotive, aerospace, footwear, sports equipment, and many more.

Responsibilities:

  • Blend liquid resin formulations on the 200 g to 200 kg scale
  • Work with resin formulators and process engineers to develop blending protocols for various batch sizes for resins in development
  • Provide recommendations for how blending should be done on the commercial scale, including writing out the first set of manufacturing instructions for our suppliers/partners
  • Develop experimental plans to test the sensitivity of blending parameters such as mix time, mixing blade geometry, mixing temperature, order of addition, etc.
  • Contribute to PFMEA for new resins with the process engineering and design assurance groups
  • As needed, provide support to the process engineering team with small-scale blend troubleshooting of commercial products
  • Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate should be a motivated, passionate individual who can work collaboratively with excellent communication skills in a dynamic team.
  • BS with a background in process engineering, chemical engineering, polymer science, and/or materials science.
  • Hands on experience with various types of blending equipment. Experience blending liquid formulations 200 kg or larger scale is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with pigment dispersions is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with good data tracking and presentation ability. 
  • Safety conscious individual who actively promotes safe behavior in the department and takes responsibility for safe lab operations
